In medical applications, gold nanorods could make a huge difference when it comes to drug delivery and cancer treatment, as I have already described. Outside of medicine, gold nanorods could be used in applications such as data storage and solar cell technology. The recent and rapid upsurge in research activities devoted to gold nanorods in biological and biomedical applications is, to a large extent, a result of the unique nature of these rod-shaped nanostructures. The sensitivity of the SPR bands to the local environment is quite important in terms of biological sensing. Nanopartz Gold Nanorods come in a wide variety of ligands and applications. These include adsorbed ligands such as citrate and PVP, covalent functionalizations with PEG and our own proprietary polymer in both in vitro and in vivo conditions, ligands for organic applications, and self-assembled monolayers.
